Volunteer FAQs

Q: What requirements are there to be a volunteer?

A: Once registered, volunteers will then be required to complete a Criminal Record Check (some positions require a Vulnerable Sector Check). Volunteers will also be required to attend a general orientation prior to the Games. Once registered, instructions on how to secure the necessary checks through the RCMP will be emailed to you.

Q: How long are shifts and how many shifts do I have to work?

A: Shifts will vary in length, but typically will range between 2-4 hours. All volunteers are required to work a minimum of 8 hours (typically 2 shifts). Volunteers are encouraged to register for additional shifts wherever possible to meet operational needs.

Q: Can I provide a Criminal Record Check I’ve recently had done for another volunteer position or for work to the 2026 Saskatchewan Winter Games?

A: If the Criminal Record Check or Vulnerable Sector Check is dated on or after February 21, 2025, it will be accepted.

Q: Can youth volunteer?

A: Youth aged 14 to 17 may register as independent volunteers. A signed Parental/Guardian Consent Form is required at the time of registration and can be submitted to volunteers@saskgames.ca. Criminal Record Checks (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSC) are not required for youth volunteers in this age group.

Children ages 8 to 13 may volunteer only when accompanied by a parent or guardian. A ratio of one child per adult is required. Parents/Guardians must indicate during registration that they will be bringing a child volunteer to ensure appropriate shift assignment. Children will receive a day pass and a lanyard instead of a full accreditation tag.

Q: How do I know my role and volunteer schedule?

A: Closer to the Games, registered volunteers will have the opportunity to select shifts that work for them through the self-scheduling registration database. More instructions and details will be provided in the lead-up to the Games, and will be emailed directly to you if you have registered to volunteer.
