Volunteer FAQs

Q. What requirements are there to be a volunteer?

A. Once registered, volunteers will then be required to complete a Criminal Record Check (some positions require a Vulnerable Sector Check). Volunteers will also be required to attend a general orientation prior to the Games. Once registered, instructions on how to secure the necessary checks through the RCMP will be emailed to you.

Q. How long are shifts and how many shifts do I have to work?

A. Shifts vary in length, but typically range between 2-4 hours. All volunteers are required to work a minimum of 8 hours (typically 2 shifts).

Q. Can I provide a Criminal Record Check I’ve recently had done for another volunteer position or for work to the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games?

A. If the Criminal Record Check or Vulnerable Sector Check was done on or after January 21, 2024, we will accept it. You can bring a copy to the office, or email a copy to volunteers@saskgames.ca

Q. Can youth volunteer?

A. There will be opportunity for youth to be involved in certain roles. Youth aged 14-17 can register as an independent volunteer and are not required to get a Criminal Record Check done, but do require a parental consent form to be signed and submitted to volunteers@saskgames.ca.

Children ages 10-13 can work alongside a parent or guardian (one youth per adult).  Parents/guardians who register themselves online must note that they plan to bring a child with them in order to ensure it is appropriate for the shift they have scheduled. Children will be provided with a day pass and lanyard to keep, in lieu of an accreditation tag.

Q. How do I know my role and volunteer schedule?

A. Closer to the Games, registered volunteers will have the opportunity to select shifts that work for them through the registration database. More instructions and details will be provided in the lead-up to the Games, and will be emailed directly to you if you have registered to volunteer.

Q. What if I don’t have email or use the internet?

A. The Games office can assist folks who do not have email to register and schedule their shifts. Contact 306-830-7730 for assistance.
