The Estevan 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games Committee is pleased to announce that they have acquired office space in Estevan. The Committee is excited to establish a firm foundation, which will solidify the Committee’s presence within the community. The new office space will be located at 1134 3rd Street and has been donated to the committee for their use by Dr. Doug Blue.
At the announcement today, Co-Chair Brian Senchuk spoke of the importance having an office space for the committee. “This space will give our committee a space to grow and thrive as we set forward in planning the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games. It is our goal to host the best event in the history of the Games and this will give us a foundation to do so. Part of our commitment in hosting the Games, is to leave a lasting legacy for the community. With an office space in the community, we feel that we are now integrated into the community as a committee. We are excited about the opportunity that provides to us.”
The office space, owned by Dr. Doug Blue, once housed his dental practice. He is donating the office space to the committee for the duration up to and including the Games. It will be used for office space and storage. In the next few months, a full time Games Manager will be hired by the committee and this employee will work out of this location. When asked about the donation, Dr. Blue stated “I am pleased to have made a significant contribution toward the Summer Games which will showcase our city and surrounds and leave a lasting benefit to Estevan and surrounding communities. I am pleased that the committee finds it helpful.”
The donation from Dr. Blue was acknowledged by the committee and has named Dr. Blue as the first Platinum Event Sponsor. Bernie Bjorndalen, Co-chair of the Friend of the Games Committee expressed his thanks and announced that the canoe and kayak competition of 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games will be hosted at the Dr. Doug Blue Canoe & Kayak Venue. “This is another example of how our local community members can be involved in energizing the Games with us. We truly appreciate Dr. Blue for stepping forward with this valuable contribution.”
