Nicole Clow set to join the Saskatchewan Games Council as Provincial Games Consultant
Regina, SK (April 10, 2024) -- The Saskatchewan Games Council is thrilled to announce that Nicole Clow will be joining the organization as its new Provincial Games Consultant. Clow, who is currently the Games Manager of the upcoming 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games in Lloydminster, will officially step into the Consultant role in late summer after the multi-sport event concludes.
“Nicole has been an enormous advocate for the Saskatchewan Games and has played a significant role in our program’s ongoing success over the past two decades,” said Greg Perreaux, Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Games Council. “Her knowledge of Games operations and understanding of their positive impact on host communities will be invaluable to the Games moving forward. We are excited to welcome Nicole to our team once the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games have concluded.”
Clow brings to the organization two decades of wide-ranging experience with the Saskatchewan Games program, including as participant, team administrator, and four-time Games Manager. Originally hailing from Carnduff, Clow’s first encounter with the Saskatchewan Games was in 2004 as an athlete; she next attended the 2008 Saskatchewan Summer Games as an Athletics coach. In 2010, then a student-athlete at the University of Regina, she joined the Saskatchewan Games Council as an intern and assisted with the 2010 Saskatchewan Winter Games.
After earning a Bachelor of Kinesiology with a major in Recreation and Sport Administration, she began employment with the South East District for Sport, Culture & Recreation as a Community Coordinator, where she served as Team South East Chef de Mission at the 2012 and 2014 Saskatchewan Games.
In 2015, Clow moved to Estevan to serve as Games Manager of the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games, an event which saw the program record its highest-ever rate of participation and which generated approximately $7 million in economic activity for Estevan and surrounding area. This was followed by a move to North Battleford to manage the 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games, another lasting success for both the program and its host community.
In 2018, Clow was hired by the 2020 Saskatchewan Summer Games host organizing committee in Lloydminster to oversee the upcoming Games. Preparation for the event was well underway prior to its cancellation due to the pandemic; the City of Lloydminster was subsequently provided the first right of refusal to host in 2024, and Clow again came onboard to her current post as Games Manager. In the interim, she also served as General Manager of the 2023 Arctic Winter Games in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Alberta, where she led the Games through a successful transition after being postponed.
In addition to her extensive Saskatchewan Games experience, Clow has been a member of Team Sask mission staff at the 2013, 2015, and 2017 Canada Games. In 2018, she was named recipient of the University of Regina Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies Distinguished Alumni Award.
“It has been my dream to hold this role ever since I first learned of its existence during my internship with the Saskatchewan Games Council,” said Clow. “Over the years, the Saskatchewan Games have afforded me the opportunity to meet and collaborate with so many amazing people throughout the province. I am thrilled to continue to build upon these relationships, foster new ones, and help bring the Games to even more communities across Saskatchewan in the years to come.”
As Provincial Games Consultant, Clow will manage the biennial Saskatchewan Games program, provide consulting support to each host community, and assist with logistics and preparation of Team Saskatchewan’s participation at the Canada Games.
