Husky helps fuel up Sask Games with donation
Dec 19, 2017

Husky Energy has stepped up to donate $30,000 to show its support for the upcoming 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games.

Husky has been named as the official fuel supplier for the games and is a Platinum sponsor.

With its donation of $30,000, Husky will be providing some of the fuel as well as funds to help the Sask. Games events.

“It was great to have Husky Energy come on board as a sponsor. When large corporations commit to these types of events it shows a commitment to the communities they have employees in, and we are grateful for that,” said Winter Games co-chair Rob Rongve in a statement.

The donation will be used to help make sure athletes, coaches and volunteers "get where they need to go" during the competition which runs from Feb. 18 to 24 in the North Battleford area, said the Games committee.

Husky’s operations include facilities in the Edam, Vawn and Rush Lake areas, as well as in Lloydminster in the region.

Husky Energy presented the cheque donation in a ceremony at the Husky gas station at 792-105 St. in North Battleford.

“These games will showcase athletes driven by a desire to be the best, supported by the hundreds of volunteers dedicated to making their community a better place,” said Paul Zorgdrager, head of Husky’s Saskatchewan heavy oil operations, in a release. “As part of this community, we can’t wait to watch some of Saskatchewan’s best young athletes chase their dreams in North Battleford.”
