Thousands Gather in the Border City as the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games in Lloydminster Begin
LLOYDMINSTER, SK (July 22, 2024) -- After an eight-year wait, the Saskatchewan Summer Games finally made their return on Sunday evening in Lloydminster. The 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games in Lloydminster, presented by Teine Energy, began with an energizing Opening Ceremony that saw more than 1,000 athletes, coaches, managers, mission staff, and officials parade into the Centennial Civic Centre representing their District Team colours. The stands were packed full of fans, supporters, and volunteers as Lloydminster rolled out the red carpet for its visitors, expected to tally more than 5,000 over the course of the week-long multi-sport event.

Over 1,000 community volunteers have been recruited to help welcome thousands of visitors to the Border City during the seven days of competition, in addition to the nearly 100 members of the Host Organizing Committee who have been working hard to plan and deliver the 26th edition of the biennial Saskatchewan Games.
The 2024 Games are split into two halves, with July 21-24 seeing competition in Archery, Canoe/Kayak, Golf, Soccer (M), Softball, Special Olympics - Bocce, Swimming, Tennis, and Volleyball.
