Name: Jaicee Maruska

Sport: Gymnastics

Years competing in gymnastics: I started gymnastics when I was only 5 years old, so I've been doing it for over 7 years.

What’s your favourite part about competing and participating in your sport?
One of the best parts of competing is to show everyone all the hard work you've been training for. Also, to cheer on my teammates.

What’s something people might not know about gymnastics?
People may not know that we train all year long with little time off during the summer. We train 15 hours a week, so there is a lot of commitment required for this sport.

Is this your first time at a Saskatchewan Games?
This is my first time participating at a Sask Winter Games -- I have been to them before, but only to watch.

What are you most looking forward to about the 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games?
I am looking forward to seeing and meeting all the other athletes that will be there. I think it's going to be a great experience and I feel so lucky to be a part of it.

What are your goals for the Games?
My goals for these Games are to try and do my best for Team South West.

What are your goals for your gymnastics career?
My goals are to improve and learn new skills so I can qualify for Provincials.

Who is your personal hero?
There have been so many people that have inspired me and taught me how to keep working hard and help me to get where I am today.

Gymnastics is sure to be a popular event, so make sure you get your tickets in advance -- catch the competition from February 18th - 21st at the Nations West Fieldhouse!
