OPENS VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
For immediate release
LLOYDMINSTER, SK (January 29, 2024) – Lloydminster and area residents who want to show their support as volunteers at the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games can now register at saskgames.ca/summer/volunteers.
The 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games Host Society and community leaders came together at Synergy Centre–home of Synergy Credit Union, the Games' volunteer sponsor–to officially launch the volunteer drive and announce Synergy Credit Union as the official volunteer sponsor for the upcoming event.
“Volunteers are integral to the success of any major event as are the sponsors and I am thrilled to be able to recognize both here this morning," said Aaron Rawlake, Co-Chair of the Host Society. After announcing Synergy Credit Union as the official Games volunteer sponsor Rawlake stated, "we are very grateful for Synergy's continued support of the Games and to all those who can join us as a Games volunteer to help ensure these Games are a memorable experience for everyone involved, especially the young athletes."
Throughout the week of July 21-27, the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games Host Society will need over 1,000 volunteers of all ages from across Lloydminster and surrounding communities. These volunteers will help greet the athletes, keep score at sport events, assist with medical needs, manage logistics, sell merchandise, manage ticket sales, and more.
City of Lloydminster Mayor Gerald Aalbers was on hand to recognize the importance of volunteers in showing off the community. "This summer, we’ll proudly welcome athletes, coaches, visitors, family and friends to the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games," said Mayor Aalbers. "Volunteers are a crucial part of this cohort, and we are excited to show our beautiful border city to these guests."
Synergy Credit Union's Chief Innovation & People Officer, Trevor Beaton, stated that "the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games aligns perfectly with Synergy Credit Union's commitment to supporting communities in their pursuit of social and economic well-being.” Beaton also added that many Synergy Credit Union team members will be volunteering during the games and encouraged the public to join them in this collective effort.
Next to the athletes, the volunteer force will be the most visible and recognizable group at the event. The Games will welcome approximately 2,000 athletes from across the province, competing in 15 sports, and bring an additional 5,000 visitors to Lloydminster.
