2022 Saskatchewan Winter Games in Regina Launches Volunteer Campaign

REGINA, SK, OCTOBER 06, 2021 — On Wednesday, October 6, the 2022 Saskatchewan Winter Games (SWG) Host Organizing Committee will be hosting a virtual event at 1:00 PM to officially launch the 2022 Saskatchewan Winter Games’ volunteer recruitment campaign.

At the virtual event, the Host Society and guest speakers will share information regarding volunteer registration and testimonials of their personal experiences volunteering in Saskatchewan’s sporting community. SaskEnergy will also be announced as the 2022 Saskatchewan Winter Games’ Champion of Volunteers.

The Games will require the assistance of over 1,000 local volunteers throughout the week of February 20-26, 2022. Volunteer roles include greeting participants, helping to feed athletes at the Athletes' Village, scorekeeping at events, assisting with medical needs and more. There are roles for all ages, abilities, and accessibilities. As well, there are opportunities for youth aged 13-17 to volunteer.

The Host Society has been working hard to ensure that every volunteer’s experience is a safe one. All individuals participating in, volunteering for, or attending the Games must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the start of the event. This requirement will extend to athletes, coaches, managers, mission staff, officials, volunteers, media, spectators and event staff. More information is available at

Additional volunteer requirements include that volunteers who are 13-14 years of age will require parental consent as well as a parent or guardian as a chaperone, and youth ages 15-17 will require parental consent to volunteer. Volunteers who are 18 or older must commit to volunteering a minimum of 16 hours (at least four shifts of four hours in length). A $20 commitment fee will be required of volunteers over the age of 18. All volunteers 17 years and older will be required to submit to a Criminal Record Check, with some roles also requiring a Vulnerable Sector Check. The process for obtaining a Criminal Record Check and paying the $20 commitment fee will be shared with registered volunteers in the coming months.

“I’m very excited to launch our volunteer campaign for the Games. The Host Society has been working tirelessly to ensure our athletes, coaches and volunteers have both an incredible and safe experience. Sports and volunteerism are strongly connected. At the center of every Saskatchewan Games are the thousands of volunteers who give their time, skills and passion to facilitate and promote excellence and competition in youth sport in our province. So many important events in our city would not be made possible without volunteers. Regina, I encourage you to participate in the Games by signing up to volunteer. There really is something special about knowing that you’re playing a part in making an important sporting event for young athletes not only happen, but creating memories that will last a lifetime.” - Dawn Kobayashi, Co-Chair, Saskatchewan Winter Games Host Organizing Committee

We are certain that the athletes who compete in the Games will never forget the experience which is a credit to your hard work. Thank you for sharing your time, energy, and spirit to ensure that the 2022 Saskatchewan Winter Games in Regina is a huge success!” - SaskEnergy, 2022 Saskatchewan Winter Games’ Champion of Volunteers
