Tips on how to be a good blogger
- Identify yourself. This will give you credibility with your readers and promote accountability.
- Try to add value. Provide worthwhile information and perspective through your posts. It’s a good idea to find out who else is blogging about your topic and site them in your post.
- Quality matters. Use a spell-checker and make an effort to be clear, complete and concise.
- Respect your audience. Don’t use ethnic slurs, personal insults, obscenity, etc., and show proper consideration for others’ privacy and for topics that may be considered objectionable or inflammatory- such as politics and religion.
- Think about the consequences. Use your judgment and remember that everything you write will be available to the public for a very long time.
- Obey the law. Do not post anything that is obscene, discriminatory, defamatory, profane, libelous, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, embarrassing to another person or entity, or that violates the privacy rights of another. And do not post material that contains, viruses, Trojan horses, worms, or any other computer code that is intended to damage and interfere with any system data or information.
